Kisangani: a young man dies after drinking a strong alcoholic beverage

A young man died yesterday morning, Wednesday June 13, 2023, in the town of Kisangani, capital of Tshopo province, after consuming a strong local alcoholic beverage commonly known as “Agené”.

According to our sources on the spot, the deceased, aged around twenty, was involved in the sale of credits commonly known as “units” in the commune of Kisangani, in the Cimestan district.

Other sources close to the deceased inform us that their companion had been drinking the local beverage commonly known as “Agené” throughout the night without putting anything in his mouth.

Official sources indicate that he was found dead in his little house in the Cimestan district at around 7 a.m. on Wednesday.

Jean Pondamali, one of the district’s youth leaders, confirmed this information, saying that the young people had been authorized to begin the burial process, following the findings of the security services, notably the PNC and ANR.

The body of the deceased young man has just been taken to Lubutu, his native village, for burial.
