Police in Nwoya are investigating circumstances under which the yet to be identified thugs broke into Coo-rom Health Centre 2 in Koch Goma Sub-county, Nwoya District taking off with government drugs and testing kits all valued at Shs10m.
A police report says the incident took place at around 5am when a man who had taken his wife to deliver at the facility heard the thugs speak in Lango dialect entered the facility ordering them to switch off the lights and cautioned them not to shout or else risk being killed.
Thugs later broke into the drug store taking off with drugs including paracetamol, and anti-malaria drugs, testing kits for HIV/AIDS and syphilis among others.
Police sniffer dog that led them to the road side where a motorcycle tyre marks were seen.
The security guard and the in charge of the health facility were summoned and recorded statements at the police station.
Mr Isaac Okello Wonyima, the Nwoya acting District Health Officer, is concerned, saying the incident left the health facility without essential medicines.
He urges the community to help arrest the culprits.
