Police in Buikwe District have arrested a 19-year-old Grade 4 student for allegedly sodomising and defiling an eight-year-old pupil.

The incident reportedly occurred on 2 April 2023 in Bunyangira village, Kawolo sub-county, Buikwe district.

Ssezibwa Regional Police spokesperson, Ms Hellen Butoto, confirmed to this publication on Wednesday that the suspect is currently being held at Lugazi Central Police Station pending investigations.

Ms Butoto said the suspect is a student of Namataba Secondary School while the victim is a student of Bibo Church of Uganda Primary School, both in Buikwe district.

Ms Butoto said the case was reported to the police by the victim’s father. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to committing the crime, but told detectives that evil spirits possessed him.

She assured the public that the police are in the process of establishing more facts about the suspect’s lifestyle so that justice can be served.
