One person confirmed dead and More than 15 people still missing after a boat they were travelling in capsized on a river in Ituri province. The body of the victim recovered was a girl and by the press time 4 people were rescued by rescue team.

This is the result of a new drowning on the Ituri river on the Mambasa-Beni via Biakato section in the territory of Mambasa in Ituri.

Mr. John Vulevyero, coordinator of the new Congolese civil society branch of Mambasa, who confirmed the incident that occurred on Monday, April 3, 2023.

He suggests that the place chosen for the crossing of people and their goods is unsuitable. He thus asks the competent authorities to suspend this passage which would be at the base of recurrent accidents, before pleading for the construction of this bridge of national capital interest in order to avoid the worst in the next days.
